The Process of Self-Installation
Before starting the self-installation process, make sure you have all the equipment and read all the instructions carefully. Don’t miss any steps to ensure a successful installation.
#1. Connecting the Modem
Follow the steps given below to connect your modem.
Take the coaxial cable from the kit. Plug one end in the cable outlet and the other end in the modem.
If you have only one outlet for connecting the modem and spectrum receiver, use the coaxial splitter from the kit. Plug the coaxial cable’s shorter end into a socket and the other end into the ‘IN’ side of the coaxial splitter.
Use the ‘OUT’ ends of the coaxial splitter to connect the modem and the receiver.
Once that is done, grab the power cord from your kit, plug one end into the modem, and the other into the wall outlet.
It may take approx. 5 min. for the connection to complete. So, wait for the blinking lights on your modem to turn solid.
Once the lights stop blinking and turn solid, the connection is established.
#2. Connecting it to Router
Now, it is time to connect the modem to a router.
Take the Ethernet cable from your kit, attach one end to the modem and plug the other into the Ethernet port of the router.
Grab the power cord, plug one end into the router, and the other into a wall outlet.
Once plugged in, you should see blinking lights on the Wi-Fi router.
It may take up to 10 minutes for lights to stop blinking and become a stable, solid green color.
Stable and solid green lights indicate that the connection is complete.
In case the router remains disconnected, power it off by pressing the power button at its back and repeat the steps.
#3. Activating the Internet Connection
To complete the Spectrum modem setup, you need to activate your internet connection through the spectrum’s website. Use your computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone to access spectrum.net/self-install, then follow the provided instructions.
